Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique dating back to the 17th century. Originally developed as a practical method to repair worn fabric, sashiko features beautiful stitch patterns to create strength and style. Its name, meaning “little stabs”, reflects the running stitch used to create designs such as crosses (jujizashi), waves (seigaiha), and persimmon (kakinohana). Over time, sashiko has evolved into an art form.

Upcycling is the process of transforming old or discarded materials into something new and valuable, extending their life and reducing waste. It challenges the throwaway culture by encouraging creativity and mindful consumption. By restoring garments with sashiko, we honor the tradition’s roots in resourcefulness while fostering a more sustainable future.

Sashiko By Clone is a collection of video tutorials and products, aiming to educate others about the art form and promote sustainability through upcycling.
