Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS SASHIKO?

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that uses simple, repetitive stitches to create beautiful patterns. Historically used for mending and reinforcing fabrics, sashiko has become popular for decorative purposes and sustainable garment restoration.

What makes your sashiko stencils unique?

Our stencils are water-soluble and stick-and-peel, making it easy to transfer patterns to your fabric. They’re designed to simplify the sashiko process while honoring its traditional roots.

How do I use the stick-and-peel stencils?

Simply peel the stencil, stick it onto your fabric, and stitch along the marked lines. Once you're done, rinse the fabric in water, and the stencils will dissolve completely.

Are the stencils reusable?

No, the stencils are designed for single use to ensure accurate patterns and easy cleanup. However, they are large enough to be used for multiple repairs when cut to size!

I’m new to sashiko. Can I still use your stencils?

Absolutely! Our stencils are beginner-friendly and come with easy-to-follow instructions to guide you through the process.
